Wow....over a year since my "Hiatus Ended".....hahahahaha, so much for that.
So many things have happened I'm not sure where to start. I may take a day to think about what to write.
I will leave you with this:
I recently got a new job as a custodian cleaning county office buildings. They are all offices and its a very easy job. I have five buildings, they take at most two hours apiece, by myself. The last two buildings are on the same property, one side being open 24/7 with security (it has the county's suicide hotline) and the other being completely empty.
I was on the empty side, in and office room that has four "cubicles" joined via a doorway to another room that is set up the same. One side is apparently the green thumbed side as all the desks have at least one plant. The other side must have allergies (ha ha) for there are no plants.
So anyway, I'm on the allergy side, emptying trash.  My only other co-worker is vacuuming the hallway, maybe ten feet past the door. I can see the cord move and hear him moving further down the hallway.
As i place the small trashcan back on the floor next to the desk(there is a wall behind me, maybe five, six inches) and i stand back up, a male voice says "HA!" into my right ear. My co worker is on my left (on the other side of a wall)and has now moved down the hall almost as far as he can go with the cord. Still vacuuming.
I'm still not sure if i heard this correctly(though there is no doubt that i heard it) but i think "no, it didn't really happen." I go to walk into the green thumb side and i hear leaves rustling. Not like, the air conditioner is on and a gentle breeze is blowing through leaves. This was a rustle equivalent to someone pushing branches out of their way as they are traipsing trough the woods. (I grew up in the country so I know my forest sounds)
This is the point in time that the full realization hit. I am most definitely NOT the only thing in this room.
Which in turn, prompted me to gtfo of there with a speed that rivaled Flash.
I did eventually go back in to finish my job. I'm sure "there was a ghost in there" is not an acceptable excuse for a job not completed. And yes, i waited until someone else was in that room.
Since then, the door has been locked. I'm not sure why. Not hearing any complaints from me though, haha.

I worked this building for two weeks, no issues. Why start now?

Haitus Ended

Okay, it's been over a month since I've posted on here. It was not due to me not having something to write about nor was it because I've been too busy to sit down and type a little something up. I've been debating just how personal I want to be on this blog. Frankly, I still haven't figured it out. I'm not sure I ever really will. But for now, we'll just start with my job. I work for the Animal Services Agency. My main job is working the Shelter. Whatever the field agents bring in, I put it in the system, vaccine it if it'll let me, and put it in a kennel. I help with evaluations to see if it can be adoptable(after a period of time), if there is an injured animal, a preweaned cat/dog, it has an incurable disease, or if we're just too crowded, I help euthanize. While this is most definitely my least favorite thing to do, (I'd scoop up poop all day long if it changed anything) we are a county-run facility, and as long as they're writing the checks, we will always euthanize. The sad fact is, I completely understand.
You see "Spay/Neuter your pets!" everywhere. But I don't think people really realize just how important this is. 75% of our intake are strays. Cats and dogs who have never had a home or had one but only very shortly. I'm talking days/weeks. I couldn't count how many owners have surrendered their pet because it got pregnant, or just the babies. There have been plenty of people in just my month of working there who've brought babies in because they don't want to spend the 30 bucks to spay/neuter their pet. And I've heard every excuse in the book plus some.
I believe that if everyone spent one month working for animal control that alot of these problems would get fixed. We have an overabundance of cats and dogs and yet other animal species are becoming extinct every day. What kind of sense does this make? None.

Where in the world is....

So, a friend of mine posted a status yesterday that asked, "If you could go anywhere in time, where/when would you go?" This prompted me to think, as most things do. I have always known that if I indeed held the power to go back in time I would go to a time before there were guns/explosives. As much "fun" as they are, I want to truly know what life was like before you had to worry about someone "cappin' your ass" :)
That being said, where would I go? I have a fondness for Greek Mythology, therefore, Greece would definitely be on my list.
Rome would be on there too, as I would love to see Cleopatra in her prime. Plus the whole Marc Anthony thing peaks my interest.
Then we've got North America, before the British invaded and threw all her "unwanteds" over here. To see my ancestors living their day-to-day would be amazing.
The Mayans would be an interesting sight but I wouldn't want to be seen for fear of being sacrificed. ;) Aztecs as well.
Atlantis, before it got lost. Sodom and Gomorrah, before they burned. Which leads me to the obvious; wanting to see Jesus alive so I could speak with him about what he really wanted. Moses, because leading people for forty years has got to be tough on a body and I'd like to see what they didn't write about.
While writing this I think I'd like to add another power; invisibility. This way I can observe all the significant turning points that happened in the world's history and see what really happened, not just what was written. This addition makes the list so much longer but I will give you my top six.

1.The writing and signing of the Constitution; Washington's inauguration
2. Salem Witch trials. I realize that we all know they were falsely accused, but I'd like to observe this entire happening from beginning to end regardless.
3.Plymouth colony-1620 The landing, the setting up, the initial meetings with the natives, etc.
4. The Neolithic revolution all the way into the Agricultural revolution
5. The Old Kingdom (Egyptian history) this is when the Step Pyramid and the Pyramids of Giza were built
6. Traveling with K'ung Fu-tzu (Latinized name Confucius)

FAIL

Now, I know everyone has had one of those days where things just went wrong. It wasn't a horrible day, no one got hurt, you didn't get fired or wreck your car. It was just a "wrong" day.
I had one of those days yesterday. As the day went on, it seemed the harder I tried to make it better, the worse it got. Conversations with friends ended in terseness, my car decided it only wanted to start half the time, school was stressful for all, cleaning never seemed to end...It was just one of those days. And I'm really trying not to complain because as bad as it was, it was merely frustrating at most. However, it was still a fail. Not big enough to be epic, but a fail nonetheless.

Just for shits and giggles

A friend asked me today what my stance on gay marriage was. While I don't want this to turn into some crazily heated debate, it is my blog and I can write about whatever the hell I want to. :)
My opinion on gay marriage is this: You cannot choose who you fall in love with. Therefore, if you want to exchange vows dedicating your lives to each other, promising to stick together no matter what happens, you have the right to do it. It is my belief that you fall in love with the soul inside the body. In today's world you can make the outside look like whatever you want it to, but the soul(or whatever you want to call it) inside remains the same. You fall in love with the person they are, not what they look like, so who has the right to determine who you can and cannot marry just because you happen to be the same sex? I understand that there are religious...apprehensions about it. And because everyone deserves the right of religious freedom, I say right not privilege, that is completely fair. If a church does not believe two people of the same sex should get married it is their right to exercise their religious freedom and refuse to do so. However, there does need to be a place for gays to get married. After all, we all want the perfect wedding, right? ;) And I do believe that church and state were allegedly separated, so why is there such a big debate on whether or not it should be recognized? I know that the majority of our laws and such are based in religion at some point. However, all men are created equal, plain and simple. Two gay men or two lesbian women getting married and living a happy life together doesn't bother me in the least physically, emotionally, financially, morally or any other -ally. So why can't they?
If you're going to go the "it's a mockery of the sanctity of marriage" route, here's my argument to that: Marriage is already a mockery. Gays have nothing to do with that, nor could they mock it any further.
Not only are there the infamous "Las Vegas marriages" that last no more than hours or days due to drunken-ness or just plain stupidity, here is a link to other "mockers"(Keep in mind, I do not accuse anyone of purposely mocking marriage, I am simply informing you that if your opinion of gays marrying is a mockery, then these marriages must be, by default, mockeries as well.)

A question....

So, I overheard a statement (made by someone anonymous) try to console a little girl who was afraid of ants. This person said "You're only afraid of them because you haven't killed one yet. Once you do that you won't be afraid of them anymore."
This got me thinking. I know they were just talking about ants, but at what point do we decide that something is insignificant enough to kill just so we won't be afraid? There are so many directions my mind went in at hearing this statement that I'm overloaded and can't remember most of them. Where do we get off being humans and thinking that just because we're bigger we can do as we please?
Also, at what point do we decide something is sentient? Just because we can't communicate with something the way we want or are used to doesn't mean it isn't sentient or can't communicate. The places I could go with this....

Sometimes, late at night, I can swear I hear the TARDIS....

It is extremely egotistical to even entertain the idea that planet Earth holds the only life in the universe.
I recently had a discussion with someone about the search for life on Mars. What really bugs me, and I don't know if they have thought about this or it just never gets said, but it seems common sense to me that if you are looking for life on a planet that does not have an atmosphere like ours and lacks oxygen completely, that the search for oxygen-based life-forms would prove non-existent and is a complete waste of time. There is no oxygen therefore there will be no oxygen-based life-forms. If the atmosphere is carbon-based, then you should be looking for carbon-based life-forms. It seems that "we" are just looking for proof that "we" existed on other planets. Which may be true, however, shouldn't we be looking for life that is not human? They would be aliens so shouldn't we be looking for them and not remnants of mankind? Am I the only one who thinks this way? Has this already been explained at some point and I just wasn't paying attention?
Also, as much as I would LOVE, and I do mean L-O-V-E, to have Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century become a reality, we haven't even fully explored our oceans. Don't you think we should do that first? Not to mention, once we've established a working colony on the moon or mars or wherever, it's obvious that we'll just say "to hell with this planet, we can start over somewhere else."
Now, this might actually be a good thing for Mother Nature because then she can just take over and correct what we've screwed up, however, with the reactors going the way they are in Japan, I'm thinking not so much.
