So, a friend of mine posted a status yesterday that asked, "If you could go anywhere in time, where/when would you go?" This prompted me to think, as most things do. I have always known that if I indeed held the power to go back in time I would go to a time before there were guns/explosives. As much "fun" as they are, I want to truly know what life was like before you had to worry about someone "cappin' your ass" :)
That being said, where would I go? I have a fondness for Greek Mythology, therefore, Greece would definitely be on my list.
Rome would be on there too, as I would love to see Cleopatra in her prime. Plus the whole Marc Anthony thing peaks my interest.
Then we've got North America, before the British invaded and threw all her "unwanteds" over here. To see my ancestors living their day-to-day would be amazing.
The Mayans would be an interesting sight but I wouldn't want to be seen for fear of being sacrificed. ;) Aztecs as well.
Atlantis, before it got lost. Sodom and Gomorrah, before they burned. Which leads me to the obvious; wanting to see Jesus alive so I could speak with him about what he really wanted. Moses, because leading people for forty years has got to be tough on a body and I'd like to see what they didn't write about.
While writing this I think I'd like to add another power; invisibility. This way I can observe all the significant turning points that happened in the world's history and see what really happened, not just what was written. This addition makes the list so much longer but I will give you my top six.
1.The writing and signing of the Constitution; Washington's inauguration
2. Salem Witch trials. I realize that we all know they were falsely accused, but I'd like to observe this entire happening from beginning to end regardless.
3.Plymouth colony-1620 The landing, the setting up, the initial meetings with the natives, etc.
4. The Neolithic revolution all the way into the Agricultural revolution
5. The Old Kingdom (Egyptian history) this is when the Step Pyramid and the Pyramids of Giza were built
6. Traveling with K'ung Fu-tzu (Latinized name Confucius)
sounds fun :)
ReplyDeletei think i remember reading something about the salem witch trials, how one of their food sources became tainted with some hallucinogen and made the townspeople trip and shit, so they thought people were witches? haha youd have to research it though, im too lazy :P
